At No Waste Republic, we believe that driving change requires more than just good ideas: it takes expertise, creativity, and strong partnerships. All our products are the result of rigorous internal development and close collaboration with our partners and clients. With over two years of research and development behind us, we have developed innovative and sustainable solutions for you to discover below.

Bread is one of the most wasted foods in the world. In Belgium alone, 120,000 tons of bread surplus are produced every year. Their environmental impact is huge, from the resources used for production to the methane emissions once discarded.

Due to a lack of viable solutions, only 30% of this bread surplus is recycled into human food. At No Waste Republic, we are determined to change that by creating economic value through upcycling these excesses. Less waste, more profit.

Did you know?

Bread surplus accounts for one-third of the world’s food waste.
For every kilogram of food produced, 4.5 kg of CO₂ are released into the atmosphere.
The cultivation of malted barley, a key ingredient in brewing, requires significant amounts of water and fossil energy consumption.
Our Panko emits 0.77 tons of CO₂ per ton produced, whereas Asian Panko emits 1.99 tons.

Some key figures since 2022
  • →   75 tons of bread recycled
  • →   34 tons of CO2 avoided
  • →   6 jobs created in Brussels
75 tons of bread recycled

Thanks to our circular model, 75 tons of bread have already been saved from waste and transformed into new sustainable ingredients.

In collaboration with bakers, we integrate a surplus upcycling ecosystem to prevent these excesses from becoming waste. We collect these surpluses directly from production lines, ensuring traceability and compliance with food safety standards.

34 tons of CO2 avoided

By choosing our Belgian Panko instead of the imported Asian variety, our customers have helped avoid the emission of 34 tons of CO₂.

Reducing the environmental footprint of the food industry is at the heart of our mission. We are committed to setting an example by optimizing every step of our production and distribution, combining quality with environmental responsibility.

6 jobs created in Brussels

Since the creation of No Waste Republic, we have already created 6 local jobs.

We are actively committed to inclusion by facilitating the professional integration of people with disabilities as well as job seekers supported by Actiris.

Our concrete actions
Supply
We source locally from our bakery partners, who pool their surpluses to facilitate collection.
Logistic
We collect the surplus with large trucks to maximize each trip. We transport them to our production facility in containers that ensure food safety.
Transformation
Under optimal hygienic conditions, we stabilize the received bread by drying it to prevent any bacterial risk. We then transform it into various ingredients before packaging.
Upcycling surplus
We upcycle these bread surpluses by transforming them into human food, creating economic value and resulting in a lower production cost compared to existing alternatives.
Energie
We put a significant part of our efforts into reducing our consumption. In fact, our energy mix is much better than that of traditional breadcrumb producers.
Social
Thanks to our new model, we create jobs and contribute to the reindustrialization of the region. In partnership with universities and Actiris, we support the professional integration of job seekers. We also employ people with mild disabilities in collaboration with the company AprèService.
Packaging
We work in harmony with our suppliers to minimize the use of cardboard in transporting fresh bread to our facility.
